  15. <p>     BAIL DENIED. To LAURENCE POWELL, 31, and STACEY KOON, 42, police
  16. officers convicted in the Rodney King beating; by the Supreme
  17. Court; in Washington. Powell and Koon had asked the court to
  18. allow them to remain free while appealing their 30-month sentences.
  19. Without comment, the court rejected both requests, and the two
  20. officers will begin serving their prison terms in California
  21. this week.
